Must Haves for Dry Skin!

Everything you need if you have dry skin!

Dry skin. Many assume dry skin to be the least worrying of all the skin types. However, we know the struggles and concerns of having dry skin. Dry skin can be flaky, itchy or patchy, dehydrated skin can also lead to a weakened skin barrier which can lead to inflammation, redness, acne and many more. Experiencing drier skin doesn’t just relate to those in colder climates or those with genetically dry skin, some can be suffering from chronic skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis, and fun fact, as you get older your skin also starts to feel drier.

Dry skin doesn’t just mean that the skin is lacking moisture and hydration, dry skin also means that your skin is lacking the normal functions of protecting itself. Those little cracks you see or feel on your skin gets in the way of your skin from properly retaining moisture, hence, why sometimes even after applying the thickest moisturizer, your skin still feels tight. The hydration delivered to your skin is escaping your skin simultaneously.

Choosing the right skincare is extremely important, knowing which ingredients to go for and those to avoid are crucial. Many are aware of some dry skin benefitting ingredients like Hyaluronic Acid and Ceramides to be one of the many. Some ingredients can be counter-productive to one another which may not bring any benefits to your skin or worst, cause more havoc for your skin. Listed below are some of Threebs’ star products that contains all the dry skin loving ingredients, so read on to find out more!

Best cleansers:

CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser

You can’t have a Dry Skin Must Haves without CeraVe’s Hydrating Facial Cleanser. Formulated with ceramides and hyaluronic acid, this non-foaming cleanser restores the skin’s barrier, retains hydration and cleanses the skin of impurities all without over-stripping the skin.

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser

Another holy grail product for those with dry and/or sensitive skin. This non-foaming, soap and fragrance-free cleanser is formulated to gently clean and moisturize without stripping the skin’s natural oils, making it suitable for all skin types, even babies. This cleanser is always recommended by dermatologists and beauty insiders to those who suffer from compromised skin.

KraveBeauty Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser

This jelly-like cleanser is packed with antioxidants like Matcha that protects the skin. It also contains Hemp Seed Oil that seals hydration in the skin, making sure it stays hydrated all day long. This cleanser promises to be effective and gentle at the same time, with no dry or tight after-feeling like most conventional cleansers.

Best toners:

COSRX Hydrium Watery Toner

This toner by COSRX is their newly formulated Hyluronic Acid toner with added Vitamin B5. Daily use of this toner makes your skin more dewy and 100% moisturized.

Purito Centella Green Level Calming Toner

With 10% Centella Asiatica Extract, this toner deeply hydrates the skin and preps the skin for your skincare routine. This toner can help soothe, moisture and protect the skin with its blend of natural extracts and hydrating compounds like hyaluronic acid and panthenol.

Dear, Klairs Supple Preparation Unscented Toner

People with dry skin should always look for toners that are fragrance, alcohol and essential oil-free, and this toner ticks all the boxes. This toner helps to balance your skin’s pH levels, as well as enhancing the effectiveness of your entire skincare regime.

Best serums/treatments:

The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid + B5

A go-to for many. This hyaluronic serum from The Ordinary works to give your skin long-lasting hydration contributing to smooth and plump skin. This serum has an addition of Vitamin B5 which enhances the effectiveness of HA.

The INKEY List Hyaluronic Acid

The differencse between The Ordinary HA serum and The INKEY List is that The INKEY List HA serum doesn’t include any additional vitamins and its consistency is said to less tacky. No more having the sticky after-feel.

Dr.Jart+ Ceramidin Serum

Utilising its patented total ceramide. This serum works to improve the skin barrier function and accelerates the skin’s own ceramide production, eventually improving skin issues concerning dryness. It features a texture that transforms from cream to serum that penetrates the skin deeply, and for a comfortable smooth after feel. One of my personal favorites!

COSRX Triple Hyaluronic Moisture Ampoule

Another hyaluronic acid serum, yes, we know but the reason for that is that it works. This serum contains both Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin B5, which is D-Panthenol. This serum leaves your skin looking and feeling supple and completely moisturized for dehydrated skin.

The Ordinary Marine Hyaluronics

We are all very familiar with the infamous Hyaluronic Acid + B5 by The Ordinary but this Marine Hyaluronics is a great alternative. It attracts and retains water similarly to the HA but it is much lighter in texture and does not have the tacky or sticky feeling. So this is great for those who find discomfort with the Hyaluronic Acid + B5 consistency.

Best moisturizers:

The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA

This moisturizer is fuelled by NMF that delivers a combination of amino acids, fatty acids, hyaluronic acid and other skin-hydrating compounds. It’s has a non-greasy texture that offers immediate and lasting hydration, perfect for those with dry skin.

CeraVe Moisturizing Cream

People always come back for this moisturizing cream as it’s not only suitable for the face but also the whole body, an all-in-one. This moisturizer contains the CeraVe signature formulation of ceramides and hyaluronic acid that hydrates and repairs the skin’s barrier. Highly recommended to those with dry and very dry skin. This moisturizer also comes in various sizes you can choose from ranging from 56g - 539g.

The INKEY List Turmeric Moisturizer

Although it promotes itself as a brightening moisturizer, this moisturizer also delivers antioxidant benefits (Turmeric, Vitamin E and Squalane) that prevent and re-hydrate dry skin and soothe any inflammation and redness.

Dr.Jart+ Ceramidin Cream

The holy grail for me! This cream contains a 5-Cera complex that strengthens the skin barrier and prevents moisture loss. It also improves irritated skin barrier in colder climates, or very dry skin concenrs like itchiness, roughness or general discomfort. A little goes a long way with this one.

Best masks:

Dr.Jart+ Cryo Rubber with Moisturizing Hyaluronic Acid

Not your typical sheet mask, this mask by Dr.Jart+ features a 2-step, 1 ampoule + 1 mask technology. The ampoule is packed with active and prebiotic complexes, whilst the mask is made of naturally derived algae and clay. They both work together to hydrate the soothe the skin for an instant pick-me-up, all in 30 minutes. It also uses a cooling technology that increases blood circulation for better absorption of ingredients.

LANEIGE Water Sleeping Mask

Signature to LANEIGE. Their sleeping mask features its SLEEP-TOX technology that helps rejuvenate tired, sensitized and stressed skin. It helps you wake up to a well-rested appearance of softer, plumper and brighter skin.

COSRX Ultimate Moisturizing Honey Overnight Mask

Although an overnight mask, this mask has 3-in-1 functions, as an overnight mask, a wash-off mask and even a moisturizer for those in colder climates or with extremely dry skin. This product contains a blend of honey, 87% propolis extract and natural beeswax for intensive hydration.

That's it! Everything you need if you have dry skin. This should help give you an introduction to what type of products and ingredients are suited for drier skin types.
