AHA

What Exactly?

"AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) is a water-soluble acid derived from fruits, sugar, and milk, known for its gentle exfoliating properties. It dissolves the bonds between dead skin cells, promoting faster cell turnover for a smoother, brighter complexion. AHAs are effective in treating dullness, uneven skin tone, fine lines, and mild acne scars. They also help unclog pores, refine skin texture, and fade hyperpigmentation. Common types of AHA include Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid, Mandelic Acid, Citric Acid, Malic Acid, Tartaric Acid, and Gluconolactone (a PHA with AHA-like properties but gentler).

In addition to exfoliation, AHAs improve skin hydration by enhancing the skin’s ability to retain moisture. However, since AHAs can increase sun sensitivity, daily sunscreen use is essential when using AHA products. Suitable for most skin types, AHAs are a go-to ingredient for gentle yet effective chemical exfoliation, helping users achieve clearer, more radiant, and even-toned skin.
