1. Avoid the sun
It is common knowledge that sun exposure can damage the skin, leading to premature ageing and wrinkles. Thus remember to always apply sunscreen of at least SPF 30 everyday even if it is cloudy as UV rays still penetrate them. If possible try also wearing light coloured clothes that will reflect sun rays as well as a hat.
3. Stay hydrated
Did you know that people who sleep on their side or stomach are prone to forces which can speed up the formation of wrinkles, and also distort facial skin. Also ensure that your pillowcases are silk as they create less friction and help prevent abrasion of the skin.
Tobacco in cigarettes and cigars damages the collagen and elastin in your skin which in turn reduces your skin's elasticity and strength. Furthermore it also constricts your blood vessels, reducing the oxygen and nutrients in your blood flow being transported to your skin.
6. Avoid harsh scrubbing
Remember to cleanse your skin gently. Rubbing your skin harshly whether its cleansing or using facial wipes roughly will irritate your skin which in turn accelerates skin ageing.
7. Get enough sleep
When your body doesn't receive adequate sleep it produces cortisol- a hormone that breaks down skin cells. However when it does get enough sleep it produces more of a hormone called HGH which ensures your skin remains elastic and thick so it wrinkles less.
8. Not removing makeup before bed
No matter how drained you are after a long day, never ever go to bed with a face full of makeup! The sealing of free radical exposure onto your skin all night long will break down collagen and lead to the development of wrinkles.
